DVD

The year is 2019 and vampires have taken over the world. Really. Pretty much 95% of the population is a vampire. They work at night, sleep during the day. Homes and cars have been retrofitted to block out sunlight. They are immortal, but they are running out of human blood. It's becoming a problem. The effects of not having enough human blood are degenerative.

Ethan Hawke plays a human sympathiser who works as a hematologist for the company supplying blood to the masses. They are working on a substitute for human blood, but the results are...not successful. But then he encounters a renegade group of human survivors who may have a way to fix the problem...

Some gore, obviously violence...interesting concept. The fun part was all the advertising slogans you see around the city geared toward the vampires. One thing I did notice is now, since Twilight, the accepted way to tell if a vampire is hungry is the eyes are red...amber if they are not. Guess that's the new norm.

Fun sci fi rental...nothing spectacular.
