Sarah's Key starts out as two different stories told in alternating chapters. One is the tale of Julia, an American who has been living in France for 25 years, married a Frenchman, has a daughter and works for a newspaper in Paris aimed at American's living in France. She is tasked with an article on the roundup of Jews in Paris in 1942. She becomes consumed with the story and where it leads her... despite causing issues with her marriage and a secret of her in-laws. The alternating chapters tell the tale of Sarah, a young Jewish girl on the evening of the roundup and her saga of horror, grief and endurance.
I really enjoyed this book, but I did find it a bit predictable once you got to a certain point. But as with the Nicholas Sparks' books, even though I knew what the ending would be...I still wanted to make the journey. The story of the girl is just gripping...you almost get frustrated by the interruptions for Julia's story, but you need both. Its is fiction based on actual events. Definitely recommend.
