DVD. Starring Phillip Seymore Hoffman, Kenneth Branagh and Bill Nighy.
Its England in the 60s and rock and roll has been banned from the airwaves. So illegal radio stations are setting up on boats at sea. A young man is sent to spend the summer with a family friend who owns the floating radio station and the partying DJs who live on the boat. No women allowed, except for the lesbian cook, and these guys take their music seriously and their partying even more seriously. Kenneth Branagh, meanwhile, plays the British official trying to get them shut down who gets more and more enraged over his inability to do it.
Great music, fun flashback costumes and HILARIOUS!! Had to stop the movie twice I was laughing so hard. Just for the charades scene alone...
A definite must rent.

I remember Radio Caroline well, she was anchored off Ramsey (Isle of Man) just outside the 3 mile limit for a few years and shook the BBC up. We did have pop music on the 'Beeb', but Radio Luxembourg (broadcast from 7pm to around 2am, I think, never heard it close down) was far more popular. 'Caroline' was something completely different and the UK Govt tried and tried to have it closed down. The Manx Govt fought them every inch of the way, but eventually had to give in.
*I joined the Caroline fan club and still have the little silver pin*
