Saw this last night, liked it a lot.
The landscape/scenery was amazing - usually I wait for romantic or primarily plot/story type movies to come out on DVD as it feels like a waste to spend movie theatre prices just to watch gigantic heads on the screen and over-loud dialogue, saving those experiences for movies more focused on visual effects (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, etc). But, breaking that little rule really paid off this time!
Obviously, there was definitely an element of cheese, as to be expected, and the fiancee "Victor" was possibly the most annoying character I have seen in a movie in a loooong time.
But. It really appealed to the idealist romantic in me, and I left feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
Overall, 3.5 stars from me. If you like to "get lost" in movies and can gloss over the cheesier bits, totally worth seeing. However, not for the realists that enjoy picking movies apart.![]()

Roger Ebert also liked it and gave it a good review:

I usually enjoy the romantic comedy chick flicks, but this one bored me to tears. The scenery was incredible and I enjoyed the Vanessa Redgrave character and her relationships with all the other characters, but found the younger couples pretty tedious. I just don't think that Amanda Seyfried can really carry a movie. It didn't help that my husband pointed out early in the movie that the guy who plays Charlie is strangely knock-kneed; I spent the rest of the movie watching him walk.
I just read the Ebert review, however, and the fact that Vanessa Redgrave is now married to the guy who plays Lorenzo is pretty romantic all by itself. I got more of an awwww out of that fact than I did this entire movie.
