i read it; loved it and thought it would be awesome to listen to so i am doing that now. can't get enough of this book.
it's going to be a movie, too! can't wait!

I strongly suggest you read the criticisms in the 1 star reviews as well as the glowing recommendations in all the 5 star reviews to get a more balanced view of the life of black help in this era.

i think southerner's that grew up in this era will be the ones who are most appreciative of this book. we had "help" when i was a young girl. not fulltime, but a lady that came in to do ironing for my mom.
the other thing that is amazing about this book is that it is the author's first novel. very impressive for a first novel.
