So here's the scoop. One of our longtime volunteers has a friend that has a brother in VA. He wants a lab, worked with Lab rescue of the Potomac and wasn't able to find what he was looking for and became dis-enchanted with the rescue contacts he was working with. He applied with us (in TX) but we would prefer not to take an adopter out of another rescue groups back yard and we don't really want to send any of our dogs out of state.
So, do any of you have good, reputable, responsible lab rescue contacts closer to him that might be able to help. We've screened the app, found a volunteer to do the home visit and everything looks good so far. of course we'll forward all of our notes and info to you too.
I would really love to help this guy find a dog that wouldn't need to be shipped to him.

I also posted this in lab chat. After reading the entire thread I'm not sure if LRR adopts in Charlottesville but it's worth looking into.
LRR.org is the rescue I got Nellie and my last lab from. They are the best and cover northern VA, D.C., Maryland, and Southern PA and I think part of Delaware now. They are the best. Lab Rescue of the Potomac adopts out about 10 times more dogs than LRR but their return rate is very high and having looked at some of their dogs they do not do the thorough checking for temperment, etc. that LRR does. Go to their web site LRR.org and look around. I can guarantee they are the best in the area, thorough, reputable, and incredibly good at matching dogs with humans.
Good luck. pm me if you like.
