Today I noticed what looks like a cold sore on Champ's upper lip. It is about 1/2" across, slightly bumped (but barely) and pink. It doesn't seem to be bothering him too much - he still plays tug, fetch, etc., he's eating, peeing, and pooping normally, normal levels of energy, etc. I'll take him to the vet if it sticks around, but wanted to know if anyone knows what it is? I tried google and a search on here, but didn't find anything.
Not sure...I hope it's nothing serious. Keep us posted.

Oona has the exact same thing on her lip. Does he scratch a lot? the vet said they have glands right there and sometimes if they have any allergies they can itch. As long as it doesn't get infected there is nothing to worry about.
Yeah, he does scratch a lot - he has some minor environmental allergies. That could very well be it. From what I've seen about canine pailloma, that could be it as well. Either way, he'll be taking a quick trip to the vet to see what it could be.
Thanks for the info.
My dog gets a sore very simalar to that from his tooth. His teeth don't quite match up to form a good scissor bite and his big teeth jut out a bit. Any way it never bothers him...now that he is older he formed a callous there but sometimes when he is overly aggressive chewing he will cause a sore. I will try and post a picture of it.

Sami gets them often especially this time of year. Doc says it has to do with alergies... Doc gave me some cream that makes it go away in no time...
My 11 month old had something just like that under her chin... I had the vet look at it ... he said they almost get an "acne" and that it maybe an inflamed hair follicle... but I would definitely take pup to the vet.
chatham had the same thing. Dr. explained it was something like acne/irritated hair folicule. He gave me some soap to wash it with. Not a big deal but I guess it can become easily infected, then cause problems. It can be caused by a bunch of things including eating out of plastic bowls.
