    Default Ticks, incomplete removal

For the first time in 28 years I found three ticks on one of my dogs.

Two I managed to remove successfully but the third I didn't get a close enough grip and was pretty sure something was left attached.

I also managed to burst the body and the liquid was clear ??

Three days later Ruby has a small rounded scab on the site.

Shall I leave it alone, pick at it ( ) or treat it with something ?

Not a great image but this is the fourth tick I found, nothing evident at bedtime but announcing its presence the next morning.

    Cheers, Don

Our last dog had this happen once, and our vet said to just let her body take care of it. She got a scab and a little lump, but it finally went away. I did find this link for you. I hope it helps. I would probably call my vet, just to ask about lymes or Rocky mountain fever in your area. What to do if a Tick Head is Left in the Skin of your Dog

    Thanks Pam,

The "lump" is not inflamed nor does Ruby seem to even be aware of it.

I'll continue to monitor it and have a chat with my vet

    Cheers, Don

See a vet if the scab gets worse. Good luck. \
