    Default Help with ticks

I found a tick on Frankie a little bit ago when I was taking her out. My brother removed it with a tissue and I haven't found anymore on her. I'm wondering if that was a bad way to remove a tick and if I need to put anything on her? I'm surprised to find one because we've never had problems with ticks.

Did you make sure to remove the head? We have a "tick removing tool" but fortunately have not had to use it.

I'm not sure. My brother removed it when I went downstairs to get tweezers. Is there any way to check?

I would watch the spot were the tick was to make sure it doesn't get to bad. Do you use any tick preventives?

Try to check to make sure the head was removed. We use tweezers or a tick removal tool. I then put Neosporin or Polysporin on the site.

If your brother removed it easily with a tissue it may not have attached. If it was you need to make sure the head was removed. As mentioned some antibiotic ointment is a good idea. Definitely keep an eye on it if you are unsure if the head was removed. Good luck.

thank you. I will keep an eye on it and put some neosporin on it too. I'm already going to the vet monday for her check up so I'll be sure to talk to him about it also.

That is great timing! Maybe you can mark the spot so you are able to find it easily.

I would use Advantix K-9. It has a tick preventitive in it.
