What is a bully stick? What's it made of? When you have an allergic dog, give nothing except the food you switched to. Sophie will steal bread and will itch like crazy after....

A bully stick is made out of bull. It is suppose to help with teething. I never let him eat the whole thing, but what he did ingest was too rich for him. So icecubes only for treats. What would you suggest for teething?
I had changed boscos food 2weeks ago and I havent seen any changes but I think that the bumps might be getting worse. I recently looked in his ear and he has redness in them. All he has been eating is his new food the taste of the wild smoked salom one. He has been eating it all up which is good I am hoping to see at least some kind of result soon.
Hi, Did you have any problems with stomach upsets when you switched Sophie to the Taste of the Wild food? Our lab George has constant problems with allergies and is on a variety of medications that unfortunately do not appear to be helping, so I'm considering a change of diet. He currently has Rachel Ray Nurtish (Beef and Brown Rice) which has proven to be the only food of the many we've tried that doesn't upset his stomach.
Thanks Michael
How old is your dog? If he is young, I'd do the gradual switch mixing the new kibble with the old. Sophie was 4 months, and her allergies were severe. So we just abruptly changed her over. We figured she was such a good little food thief and had stolen no-no's so many times without gastric upset, that we could chance getting her off the old food rapidly. She didn't have a bit of trouble with the change over. With her allergies, we are now very careful about leaving anything on counters for her to surf and get. We put the kitchen trash up on the bar so she can't get it. Although, someone left a pk of cream cheese out today and she nabbed it and was off with it like a bullet. We weren't worried about the cheese, we give her cheese for treats, but were afraid of her eating some of the foil wrapping. We had Sophie on the TOTW Pacific Stream for months. The vet wanted us to try the fish based food, since she hadn't had fish before and we were ruling out foods she might be allergic to. From the beginning she has done great on it. We didn't chose the venison or duck formulas because one of the ingredients was chicken, and we weren't sure if chicken was one of the things she is allergic to. Now, she is 10 months. We decided to let her try the formula with lamb. She's been on it 3 weeks and so far no problems. She seems to be happy with the change. A little variety never hurts, I guess. One of the foods Sophie was on when she got really bad allergies was Purina 1 lamb and rice. We wondered if it was the lamb. Now after changing her to TOTW lamb and she's doing fine, we wonder if it's the rice. We think she has allergies to grains. If she steals bread, she will itch herself afterwards. We make sure she gets no corn either. We often put veggies in her kibble.Green beans, carrots, potatoes, peas, and even broccoli. She does fine with cheeses too. I know some dogs have gastric upset with food changes, but I've always thought labbies have cast iron stomachs....the things they get into!! Good luck, I'm here if you need me. Where are you located? PS- Sophie's dad is allergic to beef...maybe George is too....![]()

George is a 3 year old yellow lab, we adopted him 16 months ago. He's really good regarding stealing food and hasn't done it or even attempted it since the first week we had him when he made off with a with an unopened loaf of sliced bread and ate the lot, wrapper included. I guess after that he came to realize that he no longer had to fight for his food. We don't feed him any human food at all, other than the occasional nibble of cheese. My vet has recommended a skin specialist who he'll be seeing in 2 weeks time, so I'm going to hold off on changing anything until after that. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your help.
I'm located in Marietta, GA
What are you feeding now?
