Eye Allergies?

My Yellow Lab Dusty seems to have some kind of eye allergy in his left eye. Fixing to take him to the vet, but has anyone experienced this problem before? I have used eye drops to no avail, but if anyone has any advice on this subject I would appreciate it. Thanks. :'(

what do you mean by eye allergy? what is wrong with the eye?

A dog either has allergies or not - if it is just one eye that is having issues that just sounds like an eye with a problem, not allergies (there would be other symptoms).

I would go to the vet, I don't mess around with eyes.

I would think if its an allergy it would be both eyes. He may have injured the eye, or have an infection. How long has this been going on? Is it weeping clear fluid, or think copius mucus? You can clean it with a mild boric acid solution till you can get him to the vet.

I would go to the vet as things like conjuctivitis(sp) can start in one eye and spread to the other or so I am told. Kassa had it once.
Tessa gets allergies and one eye is always worse than the other. Tessa itches at hers.
I agree with the others, it is best to get eye things treated.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes we just assumed it was some type of allergy, there is mucus coming from the eye occasionally especially at night. We are taking him to the Vet ASAP. Appreciate all the replies, that is why this is one of the best forums around, always somebody to help.

mucus as in abit of discharge? that is pretty common (and no, not a sign of allergies). if there is a lot (and the eye is leaky) it can be conjuntivisit (pink eye or something along those lines) but if it is just abit of discharge in the morning that is not a big deal
