We are getting more dry food in and want to know if anyone feeds any of these and what they think for Tess.
At the moment the vet says for her allergies to feed Tess the Prescription Royal Canine that I feed Erns. This costs $135 for 3 kilos so my budget wont be able to sustainboth on it long term. It isn't the best food, but at the moment keeps Erns Crohns stable.
Nutragold
Origen. This I am leaning towards.
Proplan
Diamond.
These are all around $120-$140 for 15 kilos.
eta. these new ones aren't easy to get, but neither is the R.C. With Tess it isn't life and death with her food as it is with Erns.
eta...reason we can't bring food or any kind into N.Z. We don't have the bugs and diseases other countries do. We rely on agriculture for our economy so have very strict MAF rules.

Do you have the Taste of the Wild products there? You can order online. My Sophie has allergies and we are getting ready to put her on the Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. It is fish based with sweet potatoes and fruit, no grain. I have had Sophie on Lamb and rice and she got worse. I have heard Proplan is good, but haven't tried it. TOTW has several different formulas.

No don't get that here. We can;t get food into N.Z ourselves. Lamb is one of the usual cuplrits with food.
the ones I have asked about I will order online from within N.Z.
Colin I put that link into Honeybears post. The prescription food I feed Erns is in the dont feed list, but nothing I can do. Only food to keep him stable.

I feed Koivu Orijen and am very happy with it, but from an allergy perspective I don't know if it would be the best? I feed the regular adult version and it has a combination of proteins in it. Do you know what Tess needs to avoid yet?
The proplan might have some more limited ingredient versions, if that is an advantage for you.....
We feed proplan weight management for the Tootsie, Bailey and Ginger, although they can gain weight on it ha! And Sarah our black lab with allergies we feed proplan selects salmon she is doing terrific on this food. We had been feeding Natural Balance but for some reason she started having dry skin, her coat was dull her ears and feet were bothering her so we switched a couple months ago so far knock on wood she is looking good and feeling better.

I see that Proplan only has 3 stars...dunno what to chose. Have any of you tried TOTW?

We tried TOTW when we did the roller coaster food ride, a couple of ours didn't do well on it. But that isn't to say that every dog will have the same problem with soft poop and itchy ears.

Agree. Some dogs do very well on a food and others can't tolerate it. It is finding the right one that suits your dog and sticking with it. Reason I am looking at these new ones for Tessa.
For me a 3 star beats a 1 or 2 star and if my dog is ok on it then good. Erns is Royal Canin which is a low star, but all he can tolerate. You do what you gota do.
