My poor Libby is allergic to something. The itching and scratching is driving me bonkers! (as im sure it is her too) She is not biting/licking one spot raw or anything but it seems like she is always scratching. Back, butt, legs, arms, face, all of it. The vet says to give her bynadrill but I dont want to have to give it to her every day. Id that even safe? How do I go about getting her tested for specific allergies to narrow down the problem?

Salty developed allergies right after he turned one. He had been eating grain free so I didn't think food, but more enviorment. Went ahead and put him on a Limited Ingredient food and he's doing much better. Treats are LID, too.
Aspen has been dealing a lot with allergies this summer for the first time. She turned 1 a couple months ago. We've been to the vet 3 times in the last month. Benadryl just doesn't cut it. Yesterday he tried a long acting allergy shot and it appears it's going to work (for now). The vet said he doesn't usually do allergy tests because it usually doesn't come back with just one or two things but a list of things and it's still difficult to detect what they are allergic too. I just hope it's a seasonal thing cause it breaks my heart.

ITs ironic that on today's newscast they had a local vet on talking about seasonal allergies in area dogs are really bad this year. So that makes me feel a bit better.

I use zyrtec for two of my dogs that have allergies, as i had used benadryl lots before with no improvement. Zyrtec works sooooo good!!!!! ANd its very safe to give every single day our veterinarian said. Also, it takes up to 2 weeks of taking it regularly for it to show an improvement in some dogs. ANd this was the case with mine, but after the two weeks, huge improvements!!!!!!
