I will be bringing home a 4 mos. puppy female lab Saturday from a shelter. They tell me she weights 15.6 pounds. Does this seem like the normal weight or does it seem a bit on the light side. She looks good and not skinny at all. Thanks
that seems awfully small. But would need to see her frame and such before making a determination. She could just be very petite. My pup was 37lbs at 4 mos!

My vet and the internet info sites say that lab pups should weigh 2 lbs per week. A little more ofr males. My 15 week old is 33 lbs. So 15 lbs for 4 months is way under weight. Get her assessed by a vet. She probably has worms.
If the puppy is a purebred lab that is VERY small. My female lab is a little over 5 months and weighs 38 lbs.
It does sound extremely small.
Java was 55 lbs at 5 months. Moka (who is 51 lbs at 2 years old) was 34 lbs at 4 months old.
This is a litter at the shelter, the dog may very well be mixed and turn out to abit smaller.
more important that weigh at the age is looking at the dog's overall health. If you trus the shelter and they say the pup is healthy just love it and they'll be fine.
OP - not sure why you started four threads for this question, but at least you have answers![]()
