I'm somewhat new to this forum. I have a 8 1/2 year old female lab with arthritis. She limps on her front right leg and her back right leg after even just a long walk. She has gone pheasant hunting with me since she was a puppy. She is my best friend and partner in the field, and a great family pet. Spoiled rotten, exactly the way they should be!
Has anyone used Deramaxx? My Vet recommended it to me yesterday, and it seems to get great reviews.
Thanks
Welcome to the forum!![]()
I have an 8-year-old male who started doing something similar last summer... he would be slow and achy to get up from naps, and would be sore after long walks. I started him on Dasuquin with MSM and it has been a night and day difference for him. I do have Deramaxx on hand, but have only had to use it once since he started on the Dasuquin.
Good luck! I hope you find some relief for your girl.![]()

Just like with any NSAID there can be side effects...so keep watch for vomiting, lethargy or lack of appetite. It works great for some dogs, some dogs can't tolerate it. If you notice any of the above side effects, stop it immediately and call your vet.
We're Rimadyl users here....but never for longer than a few days.
If your girl needs to be on it long term her kidneys/liver will need to be monitored with bloodwork.
I used Dermaxx for a short spell on a dog with a back injury. It worked well and I had no problems.

Tucker will be 9 next week and he has been on it for the past 6 months...I think he is doing well...I didn't really notice any "problems" with him except he was balding at the elbows/knees...the vet said he was dragging his feet...since I have been looking, I do think he is getting around a bit better...it certainly isn't the fountain of youth...
