Libby is 17 wks. When she sleeps she leaks urine. It is colorless and odorless and its not a whole lot but it is enough that it leaves a spot on the carpet abput the size of a half dollar or if she is in her crate enough to get her flank wet. This happens whether its a quick nap or a deep sleep. Should I be overly concerned? Im gonna ask the vet when we go for her final shot series in two weeks.

Is she spayed? More than likely it's an UTI and yes you need to have a vet see her, and before 2 weeks. Take a urine sample in with you.

I would not wait two weeks. Go in now.
how do I get a urine sample?

When she squats to pee, put a pie plate under her to catch the urine.
"Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen."

If a pie plate is too wide since she's so young you can use anything that isn't too wide, I use a lid to a storage container.
thanks everyone. I managed to get a small sample, they just need enough to do like a dip stick right? The soonest I could get her in at our regular vet is 430 tomorrow afternoon. should I try and get her in somewhere sooner? UTI never crossed my mind but now that yall mention it, it does make sense. She asks to go out alot and only piddles a bit each time. She also will still wake 2-3 times at night

I'd bring a fresh sample when you go.
Sharon - still not a dude.
Fresh fresh fresh and first thing in the morning if at all possible since they will want to look at specific gravity (concentration) as well as pH, and check for the presence of bacteria and blood cells amongst other things. I have a stainless steel long handled soup ladle specifically for this purpose and in fact, used it today to do a quick check on a urine sample from one of mine (she was fine, thankfully).
Do you have a hot tub by chance? Hot tub pH strips will at least give you a quick check of the urine pH. You want to see it be low--- 6 or so. 7 is supposedly okay, but my girls typically maintain around 6. If the pH is above 7, you've got troubles brewing and really should get some antibiotics from the vet. If not, try Cranberry caps to maintain the lower pH since if she's leaking, you are doomed anyhow for UTIs.
If she's been spayed already, it could also be due to early spaying-- lack of needed hormones for sphincter muscles.

we do have a hot tub! Ill try that. Ill also get a fresh sample this afternoon since shes already peed tons today. She is not spayed yet. I was gonna let her go through a heat cycle first
