I have a yellow lab named Chloe, I bred her with my friends Chocolate lab Deek. She is 48 days into what I hope is a cycle but she was to tense at vet for them to confirm. In took her to the vet 63 days ago and since then she has gained 13 pounds. The vet thinks she is pregnant but only can confirm with xray, if this is a false pregnancy would she have gained so much weight ???
oh boy. Put on your flame retardant suit - it'll get warm in here soon.
I guess you did not want to spring for x-rays?
Sharon - still not a dude.
I don't think it was smart to come to a labrador forum telling us you bred your female. Did you do all the health clearences, temperment and breed for bettering the labrador breed? Prepare for the worst of it.

I hope people on here are not judging me ?? Because nobody knows me..
Yes I do but vet says wait another week.
Oh lord where to start.
I am going to totally ignore clearances and proving your dog before breeding...because you either did or didn't, and since you HAVE to ask about whether the dog is pregnant and still have doubts after talking to your vet, I am unfortunately going to lump you into the "didn't" category unless you want to prove otherwise.
Here's the deal:
At 4 weeks, if you REALLY want to know if your bitch is pregnant, you take her to the vet for an ultrasound. You can't count exact pups but you can confirm pregnant. They can even do a Relaxin pregnancy test. If you really cared to know a month in.
At 56-60 days, you take the dog in for an xray and they COUNT how many puppies are in there and then you know. If the bitch is empty, it's a false pregnancy.
Weight gain isn't necessarily a sign as manyfolks who think they are doing the world a service by breeding their pet to their neighbors pet will FEED their bitches thinking they need alot of food when pregnant. All you get is a fat dog.
You DO want that xray...I hope you made that appointment for next week.
And you may be wondering how dare I judge...blah blah blah....I know dogs. I know breeders. If you knew anything about breeding dogs, which you SHOULD HAVE before breeding....you wouldn't have asked what are unfortunately "give away" questions. We all know you are a BYB now. Sorry.
