Hi I have a question regarding my almost 14 week old puppy. I noticed she has a little red bump on her elbow, shoulder and tiny little pimple like bumps under her belly (not her nipples). She is scratching and bitting herself. I asked the Dr for flea prevention medication she said "We don't have a flea problem in this area" and "it's not a big problem here in Arizona". So she didnt give me any. Ok, so then what is going on with my pup? What should I do? I think those are actually flea bites. It doesn't look like ringworm. She also loves to lay on our tile floor like a frog I guess she likes the cool feeling on her tummy. Can the bump on her elbows be from the hard surface? Can I buy over the counter stuff and if so what works?
Thanks
Look at the base of your pup's tail. Is there anything there that looks like dirt? You might have to take a white kleenex and brush the underside of the tail with your fingers and see if anything falls onto the kleenex. If anything comes off and it looks like dirt or is reddish-brown then that's flea dirt and yes you have fleas.
It could be any number of things, unfortunately. Maybe another type of bug bite. Your vet didn't do anything for the rash/bumps? It doesn't sound like they take you seriously and I'd be looking for another vet.

Our Sophie has some little red bumps on her belly and we put Frontline on her and they are gone now...so it might be fleas...
what kind of vet would steer you away from flea prevention? Id go to a new vet. Good luck. Hope you figure whats bothering your pup

I was able to see one flea on her...so I got her a collar and puppy shampoo for now. I am going to a different vet. Yeah, I would think flea prevention is important. Thank you
