Hi Everyone,
I have a 15 week old black Labrador called Lennie, I have had him from 8 weeks old. After all his vaccinations, I have been gradually increasing his walks from 5 minutes 3 times a day to now 20 minutes 3 times a day. I have noticed in the last week or so he has had a little growth spurt on his legs and is a little less sturdy on his feet, and im not sure if this is down to the growth spurt or if his walks are too long? He doesnt seem tired after the walks and is quite happy to stay in the park.
Any advice much appreciated
Will Post pics soon, having trouble uploading![]()
Can you explain what you mean by "sturdy on his feet"? 20 minutes of walking for an almost 4 month old Lab seems OK to me.

Hi, thanks for the replies. By less sturdy I mean he tends to be a bit clumsy looking sometimes, for example, when he leaves one room to walk into the other he can seem to lose his footing going round the corner, it's like he's got no grip! He walks on varnished wooden floors at home, which may be slippy to a dog that's not used to them, but right from 8 weeks he seemed to have no trouble at all, just in this last week or two. Although now I think about it, this does only seem to happen when inside!
Most dogs will slip a bit on wooden floors if they are moving at more than a walk. He's probably got a little tougher leather on his feet now than when he was a baby. Tougher pads are slippery. Maybe you could add some throw rugs?

my pup will be 15 wks on tuesday. Her legs have defiantly grown and she is starting that awkward, clumsy " my legs are to long for my body" stage

most times the gangly "my feet legs and body don't seem connected" is normal (think teenage human boy). keep an eye on it and if it continues past this growth spurt then you might mention it to the vet

Thanks for the replies everyone!
He actually seems to be much better now, I think he's adjusted to his new legs! Typical that as soon as I decide to find out more info, it resolves!! Thanks again!
