HI all! I am new here....but have been a Lab mommy for 9 years! Our beloved Buck is having issues walking......backstory:
Jan 09 he had a mild stroke......we took him to a neurologist and they determined the stoke. since then, he's been pretty good.....getting around pretty good.....but the past few months, he's been getting worse.....last week we had him to the vet because he was having some mini seizures.
Today we had him back again because he can not walk....his back legs have no strenght and buckle. The vet thinks his issues are arthiritic as well as neurological. He gave him a steriod shot and some oral steriods.....other then upping the dosage, this is all we can do for him.
Does anyone have any expierence with any of these issues??
the vet said we should be seeing some major improvements....but so far, nothing.....he has not gone to the bathroom since last night!!!
Our hearts are breaking....we are not ready to give up!!
(this is a great site! i just found it kind of by accident!! can't wait to look around!!)
Keep the faith. No reason to give up yet. My wife used to be a vet tech and the Vet she worked for would use this rule, is your dog doing something every day that they enjoy. If so, its not time to give up.
Sorry no advice...but sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers your way. Please keep us posted
I am sorry. I dont know anything about strokes or neurological issues. Ernie has arthritis and H.D. and has monthly injections. You can also use metacam and if there is pain Tramol.
Good thoughts for you and your boy. Let us know how he is doing.

I am absolutely amazed at how much better he is doing since his injection....still woobly, and no where near like he was before, but he is able to get around a bit, even grabbed his ball outside, and looked at us like, "want to play ball?"!
I know its the steroids working, but i also really believe he's not ready to give in and neither are we!
we did a lot of praying the past few days and i "talked" to my best friend who passed away in June....I told her we needed her help....she couldn't have him just yet....
Thank you for your prayers and postive thoughts! Its working!!!
