hurt foot ...

we are going to the dr in the morning but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what this could be. About a week ago bear started limping and I found this spot on his back paw..actually its his nail..the nail is splitt on the bottom all the way and ends up as a sore at the base of the nail..pretty groos looking..like raw... It looks bad, I have been taking care of it all week but its no better so we are going to the dr. Any ideas? My poor baby
