    Default Separation Anxiety ?

My 5 year old chocolate lab has recently been urinating on my bed when I'm at work. I take her for a walk every morning and let her run the yard before I leave. She has only begun this in the last month as she is housebroken and well behaved.

I purchased Comfort Zone which worked for awhile. We lost her sister on June 3 for no apparent reason. Took her to the vet for a bladder infection and she never made it out of the vet's office. Walked in and passed away on the exam table. The vet cannot explain it except for the fact that she had internal bleeding but cannot explain the cause.

Scooter was fine for the first month after we lost her sister but now this is a recurring problem each day. Any suggestions? Thanks.............I'm frustrated and crying all the time. I miss her sister and I can't understand what to do for Scooter now--who is alone for the first time in her life.

How sad. I'm sorry for your loss. Labs are so intelligent, and seem so capable of intense emotion, it wouldn't suprise me one bit to have a regression of loss.

Hope things get better for you guys.

Thank you for you kind words. She has no other UTI symptoms and since she urinates in the same spot, we feel it is a behavioral problem. I will bring a urine sample in next week just to be sure. Thanks, again.

We may need to get her a new buddy to hang out with soon if it isn't a UTI.

    Im sorry for your loss

I once saw a problem where this couple had a small dog, he would let the womans husband into the bed and also used to pee on the bed, the trainer told her it was a dominance issue. Has your dog got any other behavioural issues?

I agree. I'd have her checked for a UTI.

The final reason I decided to put Brownie to sleep (after 13 years) was because after loosing her two sisters she became totally miserable when left alone. She was only happy when she was by my side. I could live her alone 5 minutes or 5 hours and she would howl incessantly ALL the time.

We tried getting her together with a neighbors dog and even though they got along fine, she still would howl when left alone.

It was a very tough decision, she had terrible hip dysplasia (even though she could walk very well) already and combined with the separation anxiety we decided it was better for her to go with her sisters..

So if you ask me, I think they do suffer a lot when they miss their owners, friends, etc. Perhaps if your dog is young you can try getting him a friend to keep him busy

It doesn't sound like seperation anxiety to me, but if your miserable and crying all of the time she is going to pick up on that and be stressed. Spend more time with her, take her on walks the two of you have never been before. Until your ready to have a new dog maybe you could have a friend's dog come over for a sleep over?
