I'd like to get one of those small wading pools for my labs like the ones they have for kids. As soon as my labs get hot or for just the heck of it, they'll jump in the big muddy lake behind my back yard.
I think if I get one of those kiddie wading pools (properly positioned), that will keep them from going into the lake.
Does anyone have a recommendation? Do your labs like these pools even though they can't really swim in them?
Thanks
I have one of those hard plastic wading pools you can get at KMart, Walmart, etc for about $9. they love it plus it holds up to their digging for sunken treasure.![]()
Hmmmm wading pool vs. lake! Sammi would chose lake every time! Good luck! I just have an inexpensive plastic pool, Sammis has lasted for 2 summers and counting! Di

We have one of the hard plastic we got at Toys R US about 4 years ago. It stands up to Fanny's digging great.
Wow, she used the words "durable" and "labs" in the same sentence.
I've still got the hiccups from laughing about that. (I've seen two get eaten up by labs....not pretty to come home to, I'll tell you)
Actually, the cheap plastic ones are great, and yes, your dogs will love to play in it.

We have a $10 pool from Target...the hard plastic type. We used to use it with our chessie and he managed to put a hole in it from endless digging lol. Nothing that some cilicone filling and duct tape can't fix though. Haven't tried it out with Gauge...but I think it will hold up better since Gauge isn't nearly as crazy and driven as our chessie used to be! I think I have the smaller size...my suggestion would be to get the bigger plastic one.
We have like everyone else one from wal-mart...best toy we have bought so far. Denali loves it, the other day we put one of my duck decoys in it when he wasn't looking. WOW did he get excited barked and sniffed and barked somemore...to cute. Finally I showed him it was ok. Definitely recommend getting one of those pools.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I thought that I would position the pool on the path to the lake sort of like a pre-emptive strike to entice them to cool off before getting to the lake. That may be wishful thinking.
I was also thinking durable as in a hard plastic compared to a soft vinyl so their nails wouldn't puncture the liner. But I completely forgot about the inevitable digging, ripping and tearing it apart just for the fun of it! I guess you all are telling me that the cheaper the pool, the better, because it's probably going to eventually end up like all their other chew toys - destroyed!

I just have a cheapy plastic kiddie pool and our dogs especially Mocha loves playing in it. I doubt it would win over the lake though
I love the one Laura has for her dogs though if you can find one like that.
