    Default SMILING??

We have noticed that Denali is "smiling" or what seems to be smiling at us when we get home and let him out of his crate. He moves both sides of his mouth up and walks around for a while getting love doing this. Does any one know or seen this?

Yep, he's smiling. Common for happy dogs like labs.

Nellie smiles when she's happy, especially when she's butt tucking. LOL

Is he pulling his lips back and showing teeth? If so, this is called a "submissive grin" and isn't actually "smiling" in the human sense. Our terrier mix used to do this when I was a kid.

Yes, it is a submissive grin. Angus does it too, when he is very excited to see us. It's not an every day thing. I love it when it happens. It is always accompanied by a full-body wag.

Thanks all, yes he is doing a submissive grin. Its great we find it to be so cute...but he never stays still enough for us to grab a quick picture of it.
