She's a cutie. And yes, she's very lucky to be staying with you where she'll get the attention she needs and enjoy the company of your Labs and kitties.![]()

Lucy is a very lucky girl. Hope she learns a ton with you.
Thanks, Amy! We're not so sure about that. We've already been discussing the possibilities if her new owner doesn't return to Libya - or doesn't particularly want her and also doesn't come back for a very long time, which is a distinct if sad possibility. Most of us are not in this position, we have very stable situations, but in her new owner's case, I'm not sure he should have taken a dog on in the first place, and now what he has going on is a little beyond his own control. He's also not exactly the most responsible person I know - he knew he was going to be gone for a month minimum, probably more, but he only brought over about a quarter bag of dry food, a few toys, and no money for more food or to cover any vet bills or incidentals (it's a cash economy here, so promises are worth exactly the air they take to utter them, it's all about the cash-money in hand), he's a bit of a mooch and he knows we're good for it (which we are). And it's not like he, or any of us, are underpaid. I actually think it might be best if he decides the responsibility of dog ownership isn't for him, because I'm pretty sure it's not in her best interest (grrr, but that's another issue entirely).Originally Posted by jzgrlduff
I'm not going to try to re-home her yet, she needs some time, attention, and stability before that happens. And we certainly have the space and the ability to take on a third right now. I like her a lot, though the barkiness is an issue (getting better, but an issue nonetheless). It's early days. But we've agreed that we're definitely not going to turn our backs on her, no matter what. If we end up being her long-term foster, we will do what it takes to make sure that she stops being bounced around. Meantime, she's having fun here, and that's what's important. We shall see.
Right now, she's crashed out in a livingroom armchair with a cat sitting on the back of it looking down on her. I hope we have a quiet night, so far, so good.

That guy sounds like a schmuck. I thought about using a different word but thought it might be a little too strong being that I don't know the ENTIRE set of circumstances.
Seeing that he didn't leave any way to take care of the dog and just expected you to do it for him definitely qualifies him for serious schmuck status though.
You and Mark are Lucy's angels though. {hugs}
I have a couple of terms in mind to describe him, too, and none of them are terribly flattering. We're going to embarass him in front of his bosses and colleagues about this (among other things). I'm pretty sick of his stunts, to tell the truth, he does this with other things, too. But I'm more concerned with making sure that Lucy is set for the long haul. So I'm glad she's here. Her short stay with him doesn't seem to have had any serious negative effects!

My Lucy says "woof" to your Lucy!
She's so beautiful Ursula.... she looks sweet, and has that look in her eye that she is "needy" for love and attention. I'm glad she found her way to your home. Whatever happens, she is in good hands right now. Bless you for taking her in.
