I have had my pup Bogart for a week. For the first couple of days our walks were only a few houses down. However the last few days he has really taken to his walks and clearly enjoys cruising the neighborhood and strutting his stuff. He never seems to tire out, until of course we get home, then he immediately falls into a deep sleep. Aside from the issue of him being exposed to other dogs, germs, etc. does anyone have advice on how far I can safely walk my 9 week old pup? I've heard conflicting opinions regarding pups getting too much exercise and damaging their bones or joints and would love some advice. Thanks!
Limit him to your own yard or other 'safe' (ie offlimits to other dogs unless you know their health/vaccine history) areas until he gets all his shots, in another month or so.
Exercise rule of thumb= 5 minutes times the number of months old they are.
At that age, anything forced is really a bad plan.

My pup is 11 weeks and hasn't been out "In Public" aside from in my arms yet.
He gets his 12 week shot next week and then it is 1 week after that he can officially go out, so we are planning a short walk for him on Christmas day-

Yup, you want to keep him in your own yard until a week or two after his final puppies series shot.
Can't add much to what others have said except I agree. I used the 5 minute guideline and except for visits to the vet didn't take Tal out of the yard until a week after his last round of puppy shots. Better safe than sorry.
Oh yeah..pics please!
yup, ditto.. pictures please!
