Registration ?

Did anyone register online? And these packages Gold- Silver, it would be nice to have the pedigree, do I need that as well? Not to sound like a total idiot but this form is giving me a headache!

And I am interested in agility, the place Im taking him for obedience has all those fun things there, but I didnt know he needed to be registered to do that.

Just FYI, there are 5 or more different agility venues (AKC, NADAC, USDAA, DOCNA, CPE, etc). He will have to be registered with each one that you decide to compete in.

All my dogs are registared.... mainly to show ownership....if you dog would become lost and someone tries to claim him as theirs, you have proof that indeed this is your dog....its a good thing!!

You don't have to have the pedigree. When you register the AKC will still send you the registration card even if you don't get the pedigree.

I opted to get the pedigree. I think that was the silver package. The gold comes with a magazine subscription as well.

But, if you don't really care about the piece of paper, once you register you can buy and download a 5 generation pedigree online for about $12. The pedigree that is included in the package is only a 3 generation. I ended up with both because I didn't realize you could get a better one online.

One of the reasons that I like having the pedigree is that I have been able to find pictures on the internet of a lot of the dogs in Lula's pedigree. It's fun seeing what her grandparents, etc. looked like. At some point I want to put a photo family tree of her pedigree together.
