Yesterday was girl on girl, today was boy on boy (*Little graphic*)

But today was boy's day and what a great one for Cappy and his Daddy!

Started off with a flight of Mallards that landed out of range. My most enticing and seductive of calling couldn't get them to come close. :

Next was a pair of nervous Gadwalls that circled three times and were starting to depart when I was able to knock one down.

15 minutes later two flights of Honkers appeared on the horizon to the north and were headed our way about 100 yards up. The 2nd of the two flights turned on my calling and made a wide pass first, then came back into the wind, cupped and dropped their landing gear about 35 yards out as they tried landing in the motion staked shell decoys.

Two dropped and I sent Cappy after the more lively appearing one first. He made a great 75 yard tracking hunt through 12" water in knee high marsh grass and came proudly prancing back with the smaller of the two geese. The larger Honker was still in my sight on the water 60 yards away. Cappy returned with the first one and didn't need (or want) any guidance from me! Off like a shot and straight to that bird, and right back to Daddy's heel. Good boy,Cap!





Unfortunately, Carol wasn't along this morning so there were no action shots taken. Murphy's law in effect! A few pics were taken when we got home and another just taken now of Cappy sound asleep at my feet as I type this. Have a good rest Cap, you deserve it old fella.

DH is taking Boo duck hunting this weekend...it'll be his first trip...I'm crossing my fingers that I have a cool pic to post, but I'm not holding my breath.

Frankie wants nothing more than to get one of those geese that tease him everyday on our walks. He would be jealous if he saw this. LOL
