I think it was a great deal! We dont have a petsmart here. We just got this petco not even a year ago

If Petco moved in, I would expect a Petsmart.

Regarding pricing at the two. If you have both it is worth price comparison on significant items. They alternate who is cheaper on what.

Here Petco gives us a free 11th bag after purchasing 10 of the same food. Sounded pretty good until I checked the price at Petsmart. Petsmart was about 5% cheaper. That is after calculating the effective discount from the 11th free bag. Other items are cheaper at Petco, and I like the people at the one close to our house better, not that the Petsmart people are bad.
