Poppy had her first hydrotherapy session today. For a dog that does not think twice of diving into the sea, she found the whole experience a little daunting. After some serious coaxing we finally got her to go up the ramp to the hydrotherapy pool. She still was unsure but managed to do her 40 laps with her therapist. Though not sure who did the most exercise - Poppy swimming or me manically running up and down the outside of the pool encouraging her to swin towards me ;D
Therapist was pleased with Poppy's first attempts and said that she had a good swimming action. Next session on Wednesday. Two sessions a week for the forseeable future!
Michelle and a very tired Poppy
Glad the first one went well. How do they get her into the pool? Duh! I just read that it's a ramp. As much as my Maxi loves the water, she will NOT go down a ramp to get in.![]()
Glad that you found hydrotherapy place near you. I'm sure in a couple of sessions, Poppy will be a pro in the pool. My Scotty goes for hydrotherapy, but his is the underwater treadmill. We started by doing it twice a week for many months, then once a week for many months, we're doing it every other week now. It helps tremendously (Scotty has ED).
