How come I see all yellow labs have pink snouts, and my Brandy has a black one?
Were yours black and it turned pink? Or is she a freaky yellow lab?

I think Trooper's brownish snout comes from him having a chocolate a mom and dad.

Some yellow labs have naturally pink noses and coloring. They're known as dudleys. But some yellow labs get something called winter nose or pink nose, where their noses start to turn pinker in winter (that's my dog Ranger). It looks like your Brandy has a beautiful black nose.

Nellie had a very dark nose when I got her at about 8 months. She has what is called "snow nose." I think it depends on the length of daylight but her nose gets very pink in winter and darkens in summer. As she ages her nose seems to be staying pink longer and longer.

So you're saying the nose can change color?

My Taffy is a dudley. Her nose has never been black. You'll notice she doesn't have black "eye-liner" either.

Angus had a very black nose as well when he was a puppy. He got "snow nose" his first winter, then it returned to black for the summer. The next year he got snow nose, and it has never completely gone away. So, like Nellies mom said, I think they sometimes keep it longer and longer as they get older.

They turn pink in the winter time as they age, its normal, and your girlie will do it too!
