I am sure there are some experienced dog lovers out there who can suggest a type of vacuum that works well at removing dog hair from carpets! We don't have much carpeting in the house, but do have some rugs that I hate to see coated in dog hair. Our cheap vacuum isn't doing the job so I would like to buy something serious. I would really appreciate some advice before making such a purchase. Thanks!
Here is the article I posted earlier from the 2007 Consumer Reports.

I have the Sears Kenmore Progressive and love it.

Thanks, that is awesome!
Lots of folks here love their Dysons. We have an Electrolux.

I love my Dyson too!
I just ordered the eureka Boss smartvac, due to the posting of the earlier thread from consumer reports(thanks by the way)! for 140ish or so from amazon w/ free shipping.
just put it together, and going to try it out in a little bit.
DFW,
Let us know what you think....I'm in the hunt for a new one. Hoover Windtunnels SUCK! and not in the right way!
I second the Kenmore Progressive! My mom actually got it for me for christmas, (I wanted a vacuum, yes) But I wanted the dyson pet but she did some research and found that this one worked better for pet hair. We love it for our carpets and we use the attachments for the furniture and it works awesome!

I gave it a test drive and it worked alot better than my $90 Bissell. I'm not sure i can give a fair review since i've never seen what a $500 vacuum can do, but it seemed to be really good, and the carpets look ALOT cleaner than they ever had with the other vacuum! Not to mention a pretty good price point in comparison to the models that ranked above it. ($300+ compared to 140)Originally Posted by toyland444
