Default I saw a procedure on TV last night....

You Canucks might have seen this show, it's called "Campus Vets", and it's filmed at the Veterinary College in Sasakatchewan.
They had a Basset Hound with Glaucoma, and they did a new procedure (well, new at the time in 2004 I guess), where they put a shunt into the dogs eye, to help drain the fluid build-up and relieve the pressure. This would give him a couple more years before he would go blind, instead of days or weeks.
So this is definately something I'm going to look into for Sam if his glaucoma progresses.
It was really interesting to watch.

I hope sam never gets to that stage but it's good to have a plan of action just in case. I love shows like this.

Me too. Since I had planned on going there, I always love to watch and see what I "could have" done.

I hope he doesn't either, but unfortunately in his case, it's only a matter of time. Primary glaucoma usually develops in the 2nd eye within 6months-2 years after the first.

I love Campus Vets - I have learned an inordinate amount of info on farm animals from that show too - lol.

What an interesting procedure, good to hear that this may be a possibility for Sam.
