I read all your threads about hunting, conformation, rally-o, agility, etc. etc. oh lah
Zoe, what can I say? she's my pet, a good one, but because her mom (me) is not motivated, she doesn't get to be the dog she perhaps was meant to be. (Bad Mom)
She never really got into "tricks." In fact, we had a tricks class, but I didn't enroll her because she would not listen. We've been practicing at home.
She can now do "ouch" or "owie" where, on command, will lift her paw off the ground or floor as if it's sore. Too cute. Wendy, our trainer, said eventually Zoe will be able to limp on command. Kinda like a Lassie, you think?
What sort of "non-basic" commands have your dogs mastered?
It's amazing at what they can do.
She can do "rigor mortis" (goes on her back for a tummy rub)
and "bang" (plays dead on her side--great for putting meds on her paws)
....long post for such a little bitty brag. :-\

That's a cute trick. Yes, Zoe can be the new Lassie. She's very photogenic - just needs to be discovered by a producer.
Zoe gets to swim in the oceanmotions of Hawaii-land every weekend... I think she's the luckiest lab on the board!!! (Henery and I are sooooo envious!)
As far as "tricks" go, Henery only knows "shake"(a paw), high five, and high 10. I taught him high 10 (he rocks back on his haunches and puts both paws up) only because the trainer we had at the time said that big dogs can't do this. I had to go teach him just to prove to her that big dogs can!!
Zoe could definitely be the new Lassie!!

That trick is so cute! And a hard oneBear can roll over both sides (simple one), give the paw, go in a circle in each direction, walk backwards (that was the easiest trick she learned with a ball) and she knows "Hello" which is to seat on her rear legs, she uses this one for begging for food and "half" dead and it is half because she has the eyes open
. All those she learned with me and the trainer (except rollover and give paw) I did teach het figure 8 which is just that around my legs and I'm trying to teach her to walk backwards on a heel ;D, but she sort of looses direction. ;D

That sounds SO cute!!! How did you teach it? I bet Simon would be good at that one. He loves to lift his paw for anything.
Angus does Take a Bow, which always gets a laugh.
Both boys will wave bye-bye.
Both boys will spin.
Angus will weave in and out of my legs as I walk (well, I have to take really huge, slow steps).
Both shake.
Simon will speak.
Simon will leap straight up in the air (his favorite).
Angus will roll over, but it is the clumsiest looking thing you have ever seen!
Angus will also show his belly, which he sometimes confuses with roll over, but when he gets it "right," it consists of rolling onto one side and waving his legs frantically in the air.
Angus will sit pretty, which is sitting on two hind legs and waving his front feet in the air.
Angus will also back up, but he will only do it one step at a time, then you have to tell him again. :P

Emma can shake hands..and if you say No i want the other one..she will switch paws.
If you put a treat in your fist and close your hand up, then offer her both hands, she will sniff and with her paw pick the hand that has the treat.
But her cutest trick, is playing Hide 'N Seek with our daughter. Katie puts her in the family room and tells her to wait...stay. Then she runs upstairs and hides. Calls Emma's name once and Emma takes off to find her. When she finds her, they have a great love fest then Katie tells Emma " Your turn, Emma!"
Emma will run off downstairs and hide. (ok so she picks the same spot every time but it's still cute!!!)

Gigi can sit. LOL She can also "gimme your foot" (shake, actually, she will sometimes do it for the command "shake" as well) and "go get on the couch." We're working on "bring me your ball" but usually when she chases the ball she wants to keep it, so her daddy has started calling that "let's play keepaway with Mom." Occasionally she'll "go get George." George, on the other hand, will sit, stay, speak and lie down (if you're handing out treats; he won't do anything for free) and has been known to "go get on your bed" when Mom needs a break. ;D Neither one can do a single thing that's cute.
Let's see..... Zakk currently does the following (most of the time but all the time without 'persuasion' a.k.a. a TREAT:
- Sit
- Lay Down
- Play Dead (our newest trick)
- Sit/Stay and "Go" on command
- Bed and he must lay down on it (the only trouble is that we have had to put his bed away right now because all he wants to do is hump it :-\)
- Also working on a solid recall (LONG process)
- Heels very well and will sit when I stop (he sat naturally from day one when working on heeling)
There is some real talent on this board I'm impressed- Sammi think's counter surfing is a trick she try's to perfect everyday! As to things she does know that I am proud of. Sit/stay. Will sit for food until released even if I leave the room. She briings in the newspaper, is a great catcher, will keep all bones/full kong on a towel while eating them . Roll's on command, about 95% on her recall, Shakes and will bring toy's as requested, her favorite being her Chicken- Thing's to work on, staying down with distraction's. "settle". and of course the countersurfing ;D-heres a favorite pic. of Sammi with her favorite toy. They had both had a hard day!

What about Zoe's hat tricks?* They were my favorites!
The Bang & Ouch tricks sound really cute & not that easy to master.
So I think Zoe is very talented, and if you ever fell down a well . . .** :P
Ruffy's learning a trick: Doga
When he's getting a belly rub, if we say Do your Doga, he'll stretch all 4 legs straight out.
