Default Cheese Filled Hotdogs as training treats :/

Last night, for our sit/stays with me leaving the area,* used cheese filled hotdogs for the first time. WOW what a sesson. She was on on on. Doing everything I asked, the first time. I even had the kids run through with snacks and the cat for distractions lol, and she did not budge. All is good, went to be happy with our training.

5am Emma starts pawing at my face and my DH face, urgently asking to go out. He usually takes them out at 5:30 and said to her, 30 more minutes emma, go back to sleep. She barked at him. Urgently. So, I got up and took her downstairs. Poor thing didnt make it. She lost her bowels at the top of the steps. What a mess...DIarrhea, poor girl. So, as I took her out, he got the job of cleaning up. Dragging the carpet steamer out at 5am and scrubbing. I definitely made out on that deal.
We are just so impressed that she will , under no circumstances, have an accident unless it truly is an emergency. So, I'm going to withold food today and let things calm down. And maybe tonight* feed her some boiled ground beef with rice, like a Cup at the most. Or should I wait a full 24 hours and not feed her until the morning?

Plus I am scratching those hot dogs OFF my list* :-\ Plain old BEEF work just fine.

Poor girl. Good girl for alerting you though --shame she didn't make it out in time!

I guess it is up to you to use your best judgement whether to feed her or not. If you think the hot dogs are the cause of the problem you could try giving her a small bland meal tonight. If she continues to have further bouts of diarrhea during the day I would withhold food until tomorrow morning.

Bad thing about hotdogs is that they are full of salt...which causes them to drink more water. Poor girl. I stick to liver or cheerios.

    Live and learn. lol

I did the exact same thing when I was treat training Frodo. I had the exact same results. With the exception of cheese, I won't use people food as treats ever now. I used dried liver or those meat loaf thingies I can buy at the Pet Store.
