Default Can a dog's leg "fall asleep" like a human's?

I have never seen anything like this before. I was starting to cook & the girls had been sleeping, Molly came into the dining room & sat down. I saw her sitting there. She always comes in the kitcehn when I cook. I noticed she was licking her back leg.
I called her & she could not put weight down on her back right leg. She started to hop on three legs. My heart started to race...she was fine she had just been out to pee & was running in the back yard.
I thought..here we go...head to the ER vet. But it wasn't a couple minutes later she was walking fine, no limp, nothing. It was the weirdest thing.
Has anyone ever had this happen with their labs? Scared the crap out of me. I checked her paw for a foreign object, no swelling like if she had a bee sting. Just weird.
I will keep a close eye on her but she is running around the house like a nut now.* :

I know if I sit on my leg it will get "numb & if I go to put my weight on it, I could fall. But I never heard of a dog doing this.
    Thanks in advance.

It seems perfectly reasonable to me, Georgie. After all, the temporary numbness is nothing more than blood circulation being "compromised" for a while. I hope that all it is. I'll bet that's what it is.

I would definitely think so. Linda swears this happens to Ruger when he lays upside down on the couch.

Thanks. I hope Linda sees this & responds. I was just outside with them & Molly is walking fine. Things like that scare me...but I have no other logical explanation.

Yeah, what Nance said. That was a pretty good guess! I don't know if that would've occurred to me...

I'm glad she seems fine now. I'll bet that's just what it was.

georgie, I say yes indeed. When Ruger sleeps on his back with his legs in the air, and if he gets up suddenly, he will limp across the room but then he's okay. I really thing his feet must be "asleep", he's never been really lame otherwise.

Thanks Linda & everyone. She has been fine the rest of the evening. I have never seen that before. I am not sure how she was sleeping becasue she was in another room. It is always something with these labs. :

We're almost sure CJ's limbs fall asleep sometimes. He sleeps in some prety funky positions and every so often he'll get up and walk - or try to walk- and he acts/ looks just like it does when SU's or my foot is 'asleep'. A couple minutes of stretching and licking - and qizzical glance at said limb - and he's good to go! We can't think of anything else it could be except 'pins n needles' from sleeping on the paw...

Agree here too. I swear my boy's leg/paw have fallen asleep. Once, Otis awoke and stood up and just started shaking his rear leg (in the way they do, when you put those funny booties on their paws!). So, yes - I believe they do.
