Default Harvey has a 'dicky tum' :(

Yesterday afternoon, he went to the toilet in the garden, very loose.
During the night he had another episode and now i need a new rug.
I cooked him up some rice and scrambles egg and have been giving him that, rather than his kibble.
He has only been once today, but he basically just passed fluid.
He seems a little unsettled, but is keen to go for walks etc.
I have also been giving his some probiotic yoghurt.

I dont know what has caused this, but he had his annual boosters on Saturday, was wormed on Sunday night. Didn't start showing signs of sickness till wed. He has been off the lead more this week so may have snuffled something but i dont think so, he never strays too far.
My main concern is his fluid intake. It has been hot and humid here today, and he has only drank about 400mls, max. If he is no better by tomorrow, I am getting an emergency appt with the vet!
Stools are fluid but no signs of mucus or blood. I have spoken to other dog owners/walkers in the area, most have said that thier dog has had a loose tum over the last week or so. The area I walk him in during the evening has a lot of foxes present. I have noticed some loose fox droppings on our walks, so I am thinking it might related to that.

Hope Harvey feels better soon. Maybe he snatched up some fox poo & it upset his tummy. I know mine find any poo, deer, rabbit whatever a delicacy. And then they get loose stools.

Poor Harvey! I hope he feels better soon! I wonder if he got into something and ate it. Sophie chews on all sorts of plant life, sticks and such. I would worry about some kind of blockage. It will often present as diarrhea. I hope you get some answers soon!

So do you think he is eating the foxes loose poo or that there may be something in the area giving several kinds of animals loose poo?? I can really see that happening.......hope Harvey gets better soon and you can avoid the EV.

I am thinking that there is something in the area that may be making the animals ill. It seems to much of a coincidence that many people have complained about thier dogs being ill, we all walk in the same area in the evenings.

Harvey hasn't had any bowel movement since last evenings walk. He is continuing to eat the rice and eggs. He is 'ok', a bit down, but his ear prick up when anyone opens the fridge I will be taking him out for a walk shortly, if there is no movement then, i will get him to the vet.

Poor Harvey! I hope he feels better soon. I agree odd coincidence that other dogs are also not feeling well. How is Harvey's poop today?

One trick I found to get Diesel to drink more water when I feel he really needs it (hot/humid day & his tongue is all pasty) I put a couple of squirts of coconut water (not the oil) in his water dish & he will drink right away, sometimes I have to pull it away so he doesn't drink so much he gets ill, lol. But then I have to dump the whole bowl out & replace it with plain, fresh water as I don't think it's good to let the coconut water just sit out all day. I don't do it too often, just when I feel he really should drink because I don't want to create a diva that won't drink water without the coconut added!

Good thoughts for Harvey, keep us posted.

Yay! We had a solid stool Geez, the things that make you happy.... He is much better today, he is drinking, got good energy levels, wants to play etc. I am going to keep him on the rice and eggs for another day or so, just to be sure he is all clear. Thanks all for the good wishes.

Colin, can i just get some rehydrate from the vet? I think it might be worth keeping some handy, just in case.
Roxy, When you say coconut water, do you mean from a fresh coconut or can yu buy it on its own? I tried dropping ice cubes in his water, that normally interests him but didn't this time around.
