    Default My puppy is here

Well I figured I'd keep this post as a day by day or week by week training log.

    Day 1

    New name: Moose.

He has slept on the couch with me and my 3 year old son
He is currently leashed to the coffee table because he didnt want to go potty when i took him out.
He kidnapped a piece of pizza crust off the coffee table.
    He's a big boy.

He will be leashed to me all day until his crate gets here and when i can fully trust him i will give him more freedom he is leashed to the coffee table and has food and water here near him. He has toys too. He really likes my 3 year old son. My son wanted to name him Marley I said NO WAY! Tho in many ways he reminds me of that movie already lol.

You can tell he has never had a leash or collar on he is pulling back trying to get off the collar. He'll get used to it. He wants our pizza but he isnt stealing anymore of it.

Watch closely that he doesn't choke himself on the leash. Don't leash him at bed time. Labby's are known food thieves, so Moose is getting started Labby-style! They are notorious counter surfers! I hope you enjoy your boy!

unfortunately he had to be secured to the bed side until my crate arrived he was very very good. he hasnt messed in the house b/c im being very careful and watching him. i took him out this morning but he was too busy and didnt go potty so he is hooked to table again and will be going out again. once he goes he will be allowed off leash to explore the living room area for a lil bit. He's currently chewing on one of his toys i bought him.

Glad things are going good so far except for the pizza incident!

Hope your crate arrives soon. I am not real keen on the idea of tieing a pup to a heavy piece of furniture.

why is he leashed to you all day? he needs a little bit of freedom now and then and some playtime (and I agree, I would not be leaving a puppy tied to furniture)

he is leashed to me but the leash is 6ft long. until i have him used to where to go to go out side. say he starts to squat i can just quickly pick him up and put him outside. its one way i used to train my rottie when i had one. worked great caught on quickly. right now he isnt leashed to me because he went potty outside. if he hadnt gone he'd of stayed on the leash but he is catching on very quickly so i dont see him being leashed alot. he loves praise and treats. works good already started to teach him to give me a paw and sit.
