Hey Labrapals- boy, did I have a fun weekend...

yesterday Mom & I went to the Canine Learning Experience in Allentown with our friend Kathie. Kathie has 4 Labs. Donovan & I are bestest buddies. Mom & Kathie let us play after our training sessions. I was hoping that's who Kathie was going to bring yesterday, but she brought her 4 month old puppy, Owen, instead. We got to play, some, too. Owen chased me around the yard before we left. I decided he was pretty cool. We spent all afternoon walking around the CLE- checking out booths, and watching other dogs do Rally and a carting demo. We got lots of pets, scratches and COOKIES!! Owen slept all the way home. I, being the big boy that I am, waited until we were home to crash.

Today was fun, too. Dad, Mom & I went back to that place they call camp and walked around. Only this time, instead of walking along trails and paths, we just bushwacked through the woods. Mom & Dad were looking for something they called a chapel in the woods. Evidently it is something that was there a long time ago. So long ago they never saw it when they lived there. We didn't find it, but Mom & Dad got all excited about some old broken plates they found. They were angry that the plates were broken, but, silly humans, they made a pile of as many pieces as they could find. Mom wouldn't let me help, tho. She said something about broken glass and sharp metal where they were looking. So she tied me to a tree where I would be safe. They're going to go back another time with a bag to pick up the pieces. We made our way down to the lake (again), too. Mom let me walk out on the ice a little. Dad was worried about it, but Mom said since she wasn't letting me go out too far, if I did break through, only my feet would get wet, and I'd be in no danger of going under. No problem- when I got to the end of the leash, I turned around and went back to Mom. I walked out on a metal dock, too. Dad wasn't surprised that I didn't even notice it was different and moved a little (although he did tell Mom we shouldn't go out too far because the dock hasn't been taken out of the water for a long time and could fall apart). We did some more 'ploring in the woods after that. Dad showed us where there was a really old campsite. It had a small cooking area (Mom says kind of like a bar-b-que, but only knee high). Dad took some pictures of it. And guess what? I'm in them! Mom had me stand inside it and put my feet on the side. She told me to do my Rin Tin Tin impersonation. LOL We walked and 'plored some more, then came home. Mom said we must have walked for almost 2 hours. On the way home we stopped at an old church & Dad took pictures of 3 headstones (something about an old camp story called The Purple Bishop). Poor Mom- when she got back in the truck she hit her head real hard on the door frame. She said she's never hit it that hard on the truck before. She took a couple of Advil when we got home and seems OK now.

Oh, and before we left for camp, Mom & I did some nosework out in the yard. Boy, I wish every weekend could be like this one!
