    Default Forrest's sister has passed

She had the same thing he did: cancer of the spleen. Plus hers had spread all over. (I did not get a necropsy done on Forrest- I didn't even want to know)

Is this something that could have been genetics? There are six other "puppies" from this litter left.

Godspeed, Penelope. I know your mama Megan misses you dearly.

One of my dogs died of Lymphoma and had three littermates that also died from cancer. One male (who looked just like Coal) also died from Lymphoma a year earlier than Coal and two with Splenic Hemangiosarcoma.

    My condolences.

I have often wondered about Fanny's litter mates also. She came from a BYB so I can only imagine.

    Godspeed Penelope.

I am so sorry, that is just awful. I sure hope the other pups are healthy.

Aw, Lucy. This is so sad! They'll find each other up there, though.

Yes, I told Megan that Forrest and Maxie were waiting for Penelope.

I know my guys were BYB. Someone drove up the driveway and dumped them. We kept both, neutered the male (who is still doing pretty well with Jane's daughter) and and Maxie had eight puppies. We found super homes for all, spayed Maxie and she went to live with a dear friend of ours who loved her to pieces. She passed one week before Forrest. Maybe she went Home to greet her returning babies....

Yes it could have been genetic. Cancer is a bugger with environmental factors as well as genetic factors and unfortunately it's here to stay in our breed. We're still not as bad as Goldens.

I am so sorry to hear this. The amount of cancer I hear of in Labs just makes me so very sad.
