As far as I know, hemangiosarcoma does tend to run in families although it's not simple direct inheritance. I lost my heart dog to it. I feel weird saying this but I wonder if its worth a call to a vet and talk about removing the spleen of the remaining puppies? Sort of like those women with aggressive familial breast cancer having breasts removed before the cancer shows up. Just a thought. So sorry for the loss.

How old were Forest and his sister and Fanny? Just wondering what age this was occuring at. My Choco was just a few months short of 11 when he bled out through a tumour on his spleen.

I was so broken when I lost Choco. He had always been so healthy and had recently started having arthritis pain. I had been treating him for that and I blamed the meds, I blamed the chicken jerky that he loved, I blamed everything. I just could not believe my poor boy had to go. I love old dogs. They are so wonderful. I love young ones too but there is just something so special about old ones. Now I am crying again....
