Hi, my current lab puppy is just over 4 months old and just a touch over 40lbs and doing well. My other dog is a Greyhound mix that is 7 yrs old. I was wondering at what age you made the transition from puppy to adult food. I am just looking for some averages here, as it would be nice to get them on the same bag (Diamond Naturals Adult Chicken and Rice) So I only have to buy one bag at a time.
I am not in a rush, rather just looking down the road for when I should consider making this transition.
Thanks.
Personally, I switch anywhere between 4-6 months. Look at the labels carefully and see if there is much of a difference. Pay particular attention to the calcium and phosphorus amounts. Both should be somewhere around 1% for a puppy. Some adult foods go as high as 2%, which most would agree is too much(calcium) for a puppy

Is the puppy food chicken and rice too? If not, what kind is it? We have Sophie on a grain free all life stage food. She's been on it since she was 4 mo.

Yes his puppy food was also chicken and rice. Started the slow transition tonight. Of the few he ate out of my hand he seemed to go nuts... but he's a lab. I could hold out a hand of marbles and he'd go nuts.
What is your puppy's name? Pictures!!

His name is Frank, Frank the Tank, Franks and Beans, Frankenstein (whatever kind of mood he is in) But most often he is just Frankie. I will do my best to get some pictures up. He is such a handsome little black bundle of joy. Most recently he has learned how to speak on command - Both a big boy bark and whisper. Its very impressive.
