    Default I'm sick with worry

8.5 week old pup came home from breeders with fleas. I took him to vet this morning for his checkup and he said I could use a flea shampoo on him to kill them. Petsmart gave me one that was intended for puppies. I asked 3 times. Gave him a rub down with it and a couple hours later noticed in small print on the back that it's not intended for puppies under 12 weeks. I'm completely freaking out. He seems totally normal, the vet said not to worry but just to watch him. I'm sick.

I would trust your vet. Now you have learned a valuable lesson, read the fine print. I've done this, we have all done this, just watch your pup closely.

He should be ok. Just listen to your vet. If you don't trust your vet change vets(I learned that the hard way).

Thankfully, lab puppies are 15+ pounds at this age. I would worry if it were one of the teeny breeds. Your vet should know best. Does the puppy seem ok? When ours was little, we used Dawn dish soap and a flea comb.

I likewise would listen to your vet. I m sure that things will be ok but like others said watch him closely and contact your vet if you notice something unusual!

Thanks guys. He seems perfectly fine thank god. Like you said, luckily he's a solid 15 pounds already...but I'll never use stuff like that on him again and I'm switching vets. Amazing how quickly I bonded with this little guy - 1 day home and he's already one of my kids making me lose sleep with worry ;-)
