Meet Koda the newest member of the family

He's ten weeks and very feisty. His full name is koda Joel. Me and my mom couldn't agree with names so we combined them







The dogs and him get along but we let them sniff eachother through the crates. Koda was not planned,lol. I plan on getting him a harness and a leash for this spring!

P.S. we are experinced ferrett owners! When my other one passed away 5 yrs ago I've always have wanted another.

My son's friend has had 2 ferrets since high school. I think they are about 10 now. They are pretty smart.

Dee - I know zero about ferrets as pets. I only know what they look like and I've met a couple. Care to tell us how you care for them, how you play and exercise them, where they "stay" in the house? I'd love to know more!

Right now I'm saying he is a lab ina ferretts body. He has just in twenty minutes

-Jumped into his water bowls and spilled it
-tried to get into a bag of mints AND chewed on my hoodie!

Right now we are going to work on litter box training.

Well as you can see in my post above I call them like dogs but with special needs,lol. So you need a good sized cage for them to be in. So you can hang toys and have a "hammock" for them to sleep in. They have to have ferrett food and right now he also gets a paste with viatamens in it(like puppy food but it is in a paste form and for ferretts) TO exercise them we usually just let them out of the cage and they run and chase you around the house. They get half a cup of food a day. They also need shots. In 3 weeks he needs his rabies shot and a booster for distemper. They also stink a little even after being desented so if you don't like a little smell don't get one. They also can squirm into little holes and things so you have to watch them very carefully.Right now KJ(nickname for him) is trying to bury into the couch,lol. They also sleep A LOT! They get along great with other pets and the one I had before was taken on walks with the dogs and played with the cats even. They also need to be littler box trained but the litter pan has to be cleaned at all times.

Also train them not to bite because as babies it doesn't hurt but when they grow up it hurts very bad!

Here's the size of the cage I mean Prevue 4-Story Ferret Cage - Ferret.com As you can see not cheap. He was about 180$ and the cage is about as much as him! They also don't do good in heat or the cold so the temp needs to be around 70-80 degrees for them. Oh and they are very smart KJ as already figured out were his water/food bowl is and if he goes to sniff Mae she backed up,lol. I'm not going to let the boys around him untill they learn he is part of the family.

I plan on being a vet. I keep meaning to ask my vet what I really need to knwo in math but keep forgetting. When we Tak KJ and Bentley in for their shots I will have to remember to ask!

I have 3 dogs,4cats(which were not cat people so i dont know how we ended up with more cats then dogs) 2 rabbits AND now a ferrett! My mom said if we keep getting animals at the rat we are we can have a petting zoo,lol. I told her NO MORE aniamls! I am the main care taker and if I add one more animal I might explode!

Ferrets are really cool and VERY VERY smart! ey can get through spaces smaller than you could possibly imagine.

Awesome Deidra! You sound much like me as a kid, but with cooler parents (well, with the ability to have pets, I lived on the 32nd floor of an apartment building).
