Somebody is poisoning dogs at the local park.

This makes me so angry. I just saw a sign up in a window offering a reward for whoever finds this psycho that's been leaving poisoned meat at a local park. Apparently someone has been stuffing sausages with slug pellets and hiding them at this park. It's a big park and it sees a lot of dogs (and kids) there everyday. Here's an article on it.


I've never taken Jack to this particular park because it's close to busy roads, but I have let him off leash at the beach just down the street from it... and what if they start targeting the park I do take him to? To get into my backyard they'd have to climb through other peoples properties, and over several fences... so I feel okay about that... unless they have a great throwing arm... or go for an open window... aaaaaggggh...

What could possibly make someone do this?!

I think even if they do catch this person, the punishment won't be that big. People get away with so much, especially with animals. x_x

When I was growing up we had 2 GSD...one was a trained K-9 dog (my dad was a cop). They were very protective of our yard, house and us.
Someone tossed a piece of meat laced with rat poison over our fence, we assumed to kill the younger K-9 dog, but our older GSD got it instead and it killed her.
For the most part, I have nothing good to say about people anymore.

What a sick bastard. I say let the dog lovers take care of the punishment if the jerk is caught! In the mean time i think my dog would be on a leash at all times until this can be stopped. I wouldn't give this sick person the opportunity to get to my dog. Like you said, what if this person switches areas and end up doing this where you take your dog? The things I could think of to do to this jerk...

That's another sad event. Did they catch who did it? When someone does something like that to a Police K9, aren't there laws that make it so it's like doing it to an actual Police Officer?

They did not catch the person that did it. There was no real way to prove who it was...we had our suspicions that it was a neighbor who had attempted to break into our house (only to be met by our K-9), but we couldn't prove it. The meat was just tossed over the fence at some point and our older girl found it. No one saw anyone do it.

I'm not sure if there were laws like that back then...it was 30 years ago.

Well I'm sorry to hear it happened at all, Service Dogs are extra special family members. Even worse they didn't catch them.

Nowadays in Alabama if you hit/kick a Police Dog you can get charged with assault on a Police Officer.

I just can't stand people who would do something like this. When it comes to people who would do this, I have a very short fuse and a very itchy trigger finger. I hope they do catch whoever did it. As far as I'm concerned, this person deserves a bullet.
