Hi - I'm new here and hoping for some for feedback.
We have a yellow lab " Brandy" whom is 4 yrs old, she recently had a Mass removed (12/30/11) from her inner hind leg. Welllll noticed yesterday that fuild had built up in the spot of where the mass was removed so back to the vet yesterday to have a drain placed in.
Is it just me or why didnt the vet insert a drainage tube during surgery & or why wasnt the excess skin clipped prior to being sutured up.
Has anyone has a similar issue, would like to hear back from you.
Thanks,
Joan
I don't think that someone on the internet can answer those questions without seeing your pup. You should ask your vet. Drains are not normally inserted after surgery. Not sure what you mean by excess skin.

I think the vet would only put in a drain if needed. I don't think a drain would be put in "just in case". I wonder if the vet thinks the loose skin will shrink, or if maybe he was thinking if it was trimmed too much it might pull. Can't say for sure, but I'd be asking.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Wishing the best for Brandy and hope this is just a minor set back...

Brandy is young for a mass... I think. What did the vet say about it. Poor girl.

If you feel your vet did something wrong, get a second opinion from another vet.
