"of giving your heart for a dog to tear"
Kaylie's 12th anniversary is a month away - which means she's at least 14 years old. She's in remarkably good health, has most of her faculties and can get around quite well. But she does have terrible teeth and now she's got this disgusting lump/abscess/wart thing on her face that keeps growing, breaking open and bleeding, scabbing over but just won't go away.
Had her at the vet's tonight, which is the longest walk she's been on in months, and she's really feeling the after-effects. Stiff and sore and not herself.
Hopefully the strong antibiotics will take care of the revolting lump and we won't have to consider surgery.
"There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more? "

Aw this made me tear upIt's hard when they get older but it sounds like she's got a while with you still.
Good thoughts and prayers that the antibiotics will get rid of the lump.
Give her some kisses from Abbey and I![]()

I feel for you Nancy. I love the oldsters, but it's hard.

While they will eventually break our hearts - and I hope she is ok - the joy they give us is immeasurable!
Bless her heart. They are such a big part of our lives, think of how empty life would be if we never had them.
It is so hard to see them age. Sending good thoughts for Kaylie. I really love the seniors....they are so special.![]()
I feel for you. My oldest lab Clarence is 12, he is in fairly good health too.
