Congrats on the good check-up!
Coincidentally, Dee just got over an ear infection (yeast).....left ear only. She doesn't get them often anymore because we use cleaner at the first sign of irritation, but this time it flared up really quickly and she ended up on ear drops and oral antibiotics etc.. Can I ask what you used for Dozer's ears?
Re over weight labs.....We do keep an eye on weight, but neither my first lab or Dee seem inclined to put weight on that easily. Yes, if I free fed I'm sure she'd eat too much, but with her normal meals and a fair number of healthy treats a day....so far weight hasn't been an issue at all. We weigh her every so often to make sure she's still in the same range and she always is. She's not high energy either and is happy with one good walk a day. I wonder if some labs are just more prone to gain weight or if it's all down to over eating?
When the yeast infection first showed its ugly head I started using an ear cleaner (Vet Solutions) and while it was helping it didn't clear it up completely. The vet gave me Surolan, but he adds something else to it (he told me, I forget what) that he has found works better for yeast infections than straight Surolan.
Congrats on the great check up - good thoughts that the ear infection clears up asap
