I was on another dog site and there was a question about coat inheritance (actually what a black and silver would produce, but that is not the topic)
One person answered that any two labs will produce any color. I pointed out that two chocolates will not.
They responded by saying something about genetic throwbacks should not be bred and no reputable breeder breeds chocolates so my "information" was not relevant.
I went to copy and paste their comment but the entire thread is gone now.
Can someone explain that or what it meant?
I know at one point chocolates were desired, is that what they were talking about?

It means you were talking to an idiot. Pay no attention to their comments.

I was well aware of that before this comment. Lol.
I was just curious as to the basis of such a claim.

It means they were talking out of their ass.

Oh come on you guys/gals, tell us what you REALLY think!!!!![]()
It's difficult to say what the basis was, as all the information was incorrect. The basis was apparently "based on" completely false information passed down from one idiot to another.
Someone saying that any two labs will produce any color just shows that they have no idea what they are talking about, so just ignore... yellow to yellow = 100% yellow. If there´s no chocolate on a bloodline it´s impossible to have chocolate puppies... pure blacks can only produce blacks... (i.e. only black dogs in ancestry)...
And... if you mix with a weimaraner you get "silver" mutts... and with a Chihuhua... a Labrahuahua LOL![]()
uh oh... guess I'm on the list. I just planned my first choc to choc breeding for 100% chocs. I have had Black to black for all blacks too though, so I guess this isn't the first time my ignorance has shown.
I still prefer the mix of a cocker spaniel and labradoodle.... A cockadoodledoo.![]()
