I wrote the post earlier about Bailey's eye and stitches yesterday. I got home from VA and Bailey was not herself. She could barely keep her eye open and kept going in a dark corner to lay down. I tried to get her to play and she wanted nothing to do with any toy.
I decided to take her to the emergency vet to get it checked out and give me piece of mind. Well...she has a scratched cornea. The vet said it was not a terrible scratch, but will take a while to heal. He said it will look worse before it looks betterI feel like it looks terrible right now, I can't imagine it looking worse.
Poor dog has stitches on her side and a scratched cornea...what a rough two days....emergency vet twice in two days!
I know she will get better, but I hate to see her in discomfort and lazy. Anyone have experience with a scratched cornea?
Not on a dog, just people. They are painful. Did your vet give her drops? They heal fairly fast. Sending good thoughts for your girl. She did have a rough weekend.
I bet there is a bit of lidocaine in the drops to numb the eye a bit.
Aw poor girl.. I'm glad you figured out what it is. I hope the meds help her out and that she heals quickly! Give her some kisses from us![]()

Awww, poor girl! Max, (one of the pups I kept for a year for the owner) had a scratched cornea. It healed quickly with the drops from the vet and did not seem to affect him much at all.

Not dogs, but my Arab was great at scratching his cornea. The drops help immensely. He wasn't thrilled about it, but it worked and healed within a week.

Oh, poor thing! It sounds like the drops will help quickly. I would have taken her to the e-vet too - anything with the eyes is so scary! Hope the drops will help her feel better.
I think Kevin scratched his cornea very early on when we were dating. So long ago I don't remember much about it...in fact, I'd forgotten until just now.
Hershey Kisses managed to scratch her cornea, risk of loving to run through brush and tall grass. The drops are great, a few days or week for the discomfort to subside, then a few more weeks for the healing to complete itself.

Oh poor thing - hope she's better soon
